Raiders 18, 49ers 6

FLASH RECAP:
Running back Louis Rankin gains 91 of Oakland's 248 rushing yards as the Raiders (1-0) open the 2008 exhibition season with victory over San Francisco before an announced crowd of 52,609 at McAfee Coliseum on Aug. 8.

Johnnie Lee Higgins (53-yard punt return) and Michael Bush (5-yard run) score touchdowns for Oakland. Joe Nedney (22 yards) and Ricky Schmitt (38) have field goals for the 49ers.

Bush, playing for the first time since breaking his leg in Louisville's 2006 season opener, rushes for 27 yards on eight carries and has two catches for 29 yards. He scores his first NFL touchdown on a 5-yard run on fourth-and-one.

Running back Darren McFadden, the fourth overall choice in the 2008 NFL draft, rushes for 48 yards on 12 carries in his Raiders debut.

Defensive backs Stanford Routt and Hiram Eugene contribute interceptions as Oakland forces four turnovers by San Francisco.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland
QB Andrew Walter — Is 10-of-12 passing for 82 yards and no interceptions for an efficiency rating of 95.1.
Oakland offensive line — The unit blocks efficiently as the Raiders rush for 248 yards on 41 carries for a 6.0 yards per carry average.
PR Johnnie Lee Higgins — His 53-yard punt return for a touchdown gives Oakland a 7-0 lead with 3:26 left in the first half.
San Francisco
QB Alex Smith — Is 5-of-9 passing for 51 yards with no interceptions. Smith drives the 49ers 59 yards to the Raiders' 4-yard line late in the first half before Joe Nedney kicks a 22-yard field goal on fourth-and-two.
WR Josh Morgan — Contributes four cathces for a team-high 68 receiving yards.
LB Jay Moore — Has one of the 49ers' two sacks and two tackles for loss.

KEY STAT:
The Raiders rush for 248 yards on 41 carries.

DID YOU KNOW?:
With the win, the Raiders improve to 19-17 against the 49ers in their exhibition series, which started in 1967. Oakland is 6-5 against San Francisco in regular-season games.
