Raiders 20, Bengals 17

FLASH RECAP:
Sebastian Janikowski’s 33-yard field goal with 15 seconds left caps a wild Oakland comeback as the Raiders (3-7) stun Cincinnati (7-3) before an announced crowd of 34,112 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Nov. 22, 2009.

Oakland scores 10 points in 18 seconds to keep the Bengals winless at the Coliseum in 10 career meeting.

The Raiders deadlock the score at 17-all on Bruce Gradkowski’s 29-yard touchdown pass to Louis Murphy with 33 seconds left and a Janikowski PAT.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Bengals’ Andre Caldwell fumbles after being hit by the Raiders’ Brandon Myers, who recovers the fumble at the Cincinnati 17 with 27 seconds left.

After three kneel-downs by Gradkowski, Janikowski kicks the game-winner.

"In the past, something’s gone wrong here or there at the end, and we don’t finish it like we should,” guard Robert Gallery tells reporters afterward Oakland ends a three-game losing streak. “We needed somebody to make a play, and they made it on special teams and put us in a position to win. Everything just clicked. When we do that consistently, we’re going to be a real good team.”

Raiders CB Nnamdi Asmougha seals victory when he intercepts a Hail Mary pass by Carson Palmer at the Oakland 7 on the game’s final play.

The Raiders' Gradkowski, starting in place of demoted JaMarcus Russell, throws for two touchdowns — equaling Russell’s total in the season’s first nine games games.

The announced attendance of 34,112 is the smallest crowd at the Coliseum for a Raiders game since 1967.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland
QB Bruce Gradkowski — Is 17-of-34 passing for 183 yards with an interception and two touchdowns, his first TD passes since 2006. On Oakland's game-tying touchdown drive, Gradkowski hits key completions to Zach Miller (10 yards) and Chaz Schillens (19 yards) before his 29-yard scoring pass to Louis Murphy.

WR Louis Murphy — Beats CB Morgan Trent on a 29-yard touchdown pass with 33 seconds remaining, reducing Cincinnati’s lead to 17-16.

TE Brandon Myers — Forces an Andre Caldwell fumble and recovers it at the Bengals 17 with 27 seconds left.

WR Chaz Schillens — His 16-yard catch on fourth-and-10 from the Bengals 45 sets up Louis Murphy’s game-tying, 29-yard TD catch. Schillens' 25-yard catch during the second quarter sets up Zach Miller's 10-yard scoring catch.

Cincinnati

QB Carson Palmer — Is 14-of-22 passing for 207 yards with an interception. He scores both of the Bengals TDs on 1-yard runs during the first half.

WR Chad Ochocinco — Has four catches for 67 yards in his duel with Oakland Pro Bowl CB Nnamdi Asmougha.

KEY STATS:
The Raiders score 10 points during the fourth quarter after scoring a combined six fourth-quarter points in their previous seven games.

The Bengals score touchdowns on two of their first three drives, but get only three more points the remainder of the game. Fullback Jeremi Johnson coughs up a fumble at the Oakland 15 with Cincinnati leading 17-10 and Shayne Graham also is wide right on a 37-yard field goal during the third quarter.

THEY SAID IT:
"As a team, we’re not really known for fighting back, and we came back."

Raiders WR Louis Murphy

"Coach (Marvin) Lewis talks about it all the time, stealing games on the road, beating people you shouldn’t beat, and the good teams beat the teams they should. And this is one of those teams, no disrespect to them, but this was a game we should have won. We had ample times to win the game (Sunday), but we didn’t.

Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco

"There’s some energy and some belief that we still have something to play for. We’re still playing for each other, we’re still trying to straighten out this football team in its path and its return to greatness. It’s not been easy. It’s been very difficult, quite honestly, but days like this make you feel like you’re making strides that way." Raiders coach Tom Cable

The Raiders award only one game ball — to the family of deceased teammate Marquis Cooper, a standout special teams player. Cooper, free-agent NFL defensive lineman Corey Smith and former University of South Florida player William Bleakley died in a February boating accident off the Florida Coast. Cooper’s wife, Rebekah, mother, Donna, and 3-year-old daughter, Delaney, are guests of the Raiders at the Coliseum for Oakland-Cincinnati game.

Carson Palmer becomes the first Bengals quarterback to run for two touchdowns in a game since Jack Thompson in 1979.
