Raiders 27, Cardinals 23

FLASH RECAP:
Andrew Walter throws a 3-yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams and Hiram Eugene returns an interception 36 yards for another score to help Oakland defeat Arizona in Lane Kiffin's debut as Raiders coach before an announced crowd of 39,911 at McAfee Coliseum on Aug. 11, 2007.

In the 2007 exhibition opener for both teams, the Cardinals erase a 21-7 deficit by scoring 16 consecutive points. Neil Rackers' 25-yard field goal, his third of the game, gives Arizona a 23-21 lead with 3:40 left in the third quarter.

Oakland regains the lead on a 27-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski with 8:10 remaining. Tyler Fredrickson closes the scoring with a 48-yard field goal for Oakland.

In their Raiders debut, quarterback Daunte Culpepper and running back Dominic Rhodes each contribute in the comeback victory. Culpepper engineers two fourth-quarter drives that result in field goals and Rhodes rushes for 21 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland
QB Andrew Walter — Completes 8 of 11 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown during the second quarter for an 111.9 quarterback efficiency rating.
QB Daunte Culpepper — Engineers two fourth-quarter drives that end with field goals. Culpepper finishes with 5-of-12 passing for 78 yards, but his numbers would have been better if wideouts Will Buchanon and Johnnie Lee Higgins don't drop passes.
WR Mike Williams — Former Lion makes a 17-yard catch on the Raiders' first TD drive and has a 3-yard reception for a touchdown late in the first half.
DB Hiram Eugene — His 36-yard interception return gives Oakland a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

Arizona
QB Kurt Warner — Throws a 58-yard pass to Bryant Johnson on his only drive of the game.
DE Chris Cooper — Former Raider has two sacks for 15 yards and a forced fumble.
K Neil Rackers — Has field goals of 59, 37 and 27 yards to help rally the Cardinals to a 23-21 lead.

KEY STATS:
QB Andrew Walter engineers two touchdown drives during the second quarter on 8-of-11 passing for 50 yards. Dominic Rhodes scores on a 1-yard run and Walter throws a 3-yard TD pass to Mike Williams.


The teams combine for 31 second-quarter points, 21 by the Raiders who build a 21-10 lead at halftime.
The game features a 64-yard punt by the Raiders' Shane Lechler and a 59-yard field goal by the Cardinals' Neil Rackers.

TURNING POINT:
Daunte Culpepper's 50-yard pass completion to Johnnie Lee Higgins sets up Sebastian Janikowski's go-ahead 27-yard field goal with 8:10 remaining.

Cardinals DE end Chris Cooper played his first three NFL seasons (2001, 2002 & 2003) with the Raiders. The former Nebraska-Omaha player was selected by Oakland in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL draft.
