Chiefs 17, Raiders 10

FLASH RECAP:
Kansas City improves to a franchise-best 7-0 start after holding off Oakland before an announced crowd of 62,391 at Network Associates Coliseum on Oct. 20, 2003.

Time expires as Chiefs S Jerome Woods tackles Raiders WR Tim Brown at the Kansas City 1-yard line after Brown's 13-yard catch. Backup QB Marques Tuiasosopo drives the Raiders 93 yards in the final 1 minute, 47 seconds.

The plummeting Raiders (2-5) suffer their third straight loss and have their worst seven-game start since 1964 (1-5-1).

Tuiasosopo engineers 10 points and throws for 224 yards after replacing an injured Rich Gannon at the start of the second half. Gannon sustains a bruised right shoulder on a blind-side hit by Chiefs LB Shawn Barber late in the second quarter. Gannon, the 2002 NFL MVP, is 10-of-19 passing for a mere 58 yards with one interception in the first half.

After Kansas City takes a 17-3 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by Priest Holmes, Zack Crockett scores on a 1-yard run for Oakland with 2:25 left. Midway through the final period, Sebastian Janikowski narrows the Raiders' deficit to 10-3 with a 27-yard field goal.

Kansas City builds a 10-0 advantage in the first half on Trent Green's 2-yard run and Morten Andersen's 37-yard field goal. The Chiefs outgain the Raiders, 192 to 75 in total yards, in the first half.

The Raiders drop their second straight on Monday Night Football, and are 7-14 in their past 21 MNF games.

Raiders QB Marques Tuiasosopo

"I was on him (Tim Brown) before he had a chance to make a move. I was able to make the hit, and I knew they had no time left."

Chiefs S Jerome Woods

"We knew Oakland would be tough. They are a team with a lot of pride and are difficult to beat at home. They pushed us to the limit."
