Raiders 20, Chiefs 17

FLASH RECAP:
The Streak is over.

Justin Fargas rushes for 139 yards and the game-winning touchdown to propel Oakland (3-8) past Kansas City (4-7) before an announced crowd of 76,210 at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 25, 2007.

The comeback victory ends the Raiders' NFL-record 17-game losing streak against division opposition. They also snap a six-game overall losing streak and a franchise-worst nine-game losing streak to the AFC West rival Chiefs.

After LaMont Jordan's 5-yard touchdown runs gives Oakland a 13-10 lead with 6:04 left in the third quarter, Kolby Smith's 5-yard scoring run reclaims the lead for Kansas City with 43 seconds left in the third quarter.

After an exchange of possessions, the Raiders start a drive at their 23. Daunte Culpepper completes a 28-yard pass to tight end Zach Miller followed by a 35-yard hookup with wide receiver to Jerry Porter.

On first-and-10 at the Kansas City 14, Fargas bolts to the end zone for a touchdown, giving Oakland a 20-17 lead with 9:34 left.

After the Chiefs drive to the Raiders' 23, Smith is stuffed by linebackers Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard on fourth-and-one for a yard loss with 4:22 left. The Raiders pick up four first downs on three Fargas runs and a Culpepper pass to Ronald Curry for 10 yards before Culpepper has two kneel-downs to run out the clock.

"It feels good to beat the Chiefs," Fargas tells reporters after the Raiders get their first victory over the Chiefs since the 2002 regular-season finale between Oakland and Kansas City. "It feels good to get a divisional win and get things going in the right direction for this team."

Says Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp: "We just have to find a way to get on a roll. Maybe this is our roll."

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland
RB Justin Fargas — Rushes for 139 yards and a touchdown. Fargas averages 6.3 yards per run on 22 carries. His 14-yard TD run with 9:34 left erases a 17-13 Chiefs lead.
LBs Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard — Combine to stop Chiefs RB Kolby Smith for a yard loss on fourth-and-one from the Oakland 23 with 4:22 left. Oakland takes possession and runs out the clock to preserve the win. Morrison finishes with a game-high 10 solo tackles.
WR Jerry Porter — Sets up two second-half Raiders touchdowns with 40- and 35-yard catches.
OLT Barry Sims — Does a nice job in neutralizing Chiefs DE Jarred Allen, who has six tackles and no sacks. In Kansas City’s 12-10 win at Oakland on Oct. 21, Allen has eight solo tackles and two sacks.
SS Michael Huff — Gets his first NFL career interception on Kansas City's first possession. The turnover sets up a Sebastian Janikowski 25-yard field goal. Huff helps hold Kansas City TE Tony Gonzalez to three catches for 48 yards.
Kansas City
RB Kolby Smith — Has 150 rushing yards and two TDs. Smith is the first Chiefs rookie to rush for at least 100 yards since for Raider Harvey Williams accomplished the feat in 1991.
LB Donnie Edwards — Contributes a sack, forced fumble and five solo tackles.
WR Dwayne Bowe — Has a team-high four catches for 63 yards.

GOAT:
Chiefs coach Herm Edwards. Elects to try a running play (which results in a 1-yard loss) on fourth-and-one from the Raiders' 23 instead of trying a 40-yard field goal with the Chiefs trailing 20-17 with 4:26 to play. Edwards' decision no doubt is influenced when Kansas City's Dave Rayner is wide left on a 33-yard field goal attempt early in the fourth quarter.

KEY STAT:
With 139 rushing yards, Justin Fargas becomes the first Raiders running back to reach 100 rushing yards against the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium since Arthur Whittington had 134 yards on Nov. 5, 1978.

TURNING POINT:
Trailing 20-17, the Chiefs' Kolby Smith loses a yard on fourth-and-one from the Raiders' 23-yard line with 4:22 remaining. Kansas City never regains possession as Oakland runs out the clock on three first-down runs by Justin Fargas and a 10-yard catch by Ronald Curry.

THEY SAID IT:
"You don't really think back to past games. You try to live in the moment and take advantage of the opportunities that you have. It feels so good, a divisional opponent. We haven't beaten them in so long. It feels good for the guys in the locker room to get over that hump."

Raiders RB Justin Fargas

"I'm really happy for the guys that have been here a long time."

Raiders coach Lane Kiffin

"We’re in a bad situation right now. To test our character, we’re going to have to come out next week and play. I know the other team (San Diego) is not going to feel sorry for us. We need to get our heads up quick and finish out this year and see what happens."

Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson

BY THE NUMBERS:
4: Consecutive Chiefs losses.
110: Consecutive games with at least one catch by the Chiefs' Tony Gonzalez, the second longest streak in league history for a tight end behind Ozzie Newsome's record of 150 games.
128: A season-low net passing yards surrendered by the Raiders. The previous low is 137 net passing yards by the Dolphins in Week 4.

DID YOU KNOW?:
The Raiders end an NFL-record 17-game division losing streak, beating an AFC West opponent for the first time since a 25-24 victory at Denver on Nov. 28, 2004.

With the victory, the Raiders improve to 4-9 against the Chiefs in regular-season games at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City since 1995.
