Raiders 16, Redskins 13

FLASH RECAP:
Sebastien Janikowski kicks three field goals and Derrick Burgess clinches victory with a fourth-down sack as Oakland (4-6) defeats Washington (5-5) before an announced crowd of 90,129 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland on Nov. 20, 2005.

Janikowski's 19-yard field goal with 1:08 remaining gives Oakland its first lead of the game. The Redskins advance the football to the Raiders' 43-yard line before Mark Brunell loses a fumble after being sacked by Burgess on fourth-and-2 with 5 seconds left.

After the game, Raiders coach Norv Turner is presented the game ball in the victorious Oakland locker room. Turner was fired as Redskins coach with three games left in the 2000 season. Washington was 7-6 at the time of his dismissal. He had a 50-60-1 record (including playoffs) in 6 1/2 plus seasons with the Redskins.

"We know what happened, we know the emotion and the excitement he had to come back here," defensive end Bobby Hamilton tells reporters after the Raiders end a two-game losing streak. "We gave him the game ball, coming back to the team who ran him out. He was very excited, very emotional. He dropped his head. He was excited because he got a win."

Turner said: "I coached in a lot of games here where if we could've got a sack on the last play like that before they had a chance to throw the ball, we would've won a lot more games. That's how you win and lose."

The Raiders' Kerry Collins is 19-of-36 passing for 289 yards and a touchdown with an interception. Collins' 49-yard TD pass to Jerry Porter early in the third quarter launches Oakland's comeback from a 13-3 halftime deficit.

The Redskins' Brunell completes 14 of 32 passes for 155 yards and no touchdowns with a 58.7 passer rating. After building a 13-3 lead at halftime, Washington has only 94 total yards and fails to score in the second half.

The teams combine for 16 penalties for 151 yards. The Raiders have 10 of those penalties for 101 yards.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland
Raiders defense — The unit allows no offensive touchdowns, surrenders only 246 yards and recovers three Redskins fumbles.
WR Jerry Porter — Has a career-high 142 receiving yards and a TD on 6 catches. Porter's 49-yard TD catch early in the third quarter helps rally the Raiders. His 25-yard catch in the fourth quarter helps set up Sebastian Janikowski's game-tying, 25-yard field goal.
DE Derrick Burgess — Recovers a Mark Brunell fumble with 5 seconds left after Burgess sacks the Redskins QB on fourth-and-2 from the Oakland 43-yard line. Burgess also has a sack in the third quarter.
K Sebastien Janikowski — Kicks 30-, 25- and 19-yard field goals. His 45-yard attempt in the second quarter hits the left upright.

Washington
MLB Lemar Marshall — Returns a Kerry Collins interception 17 yards for a TD and has 10 total tackles (9 solo).
WLB LaVar Arrington — Tackles LaMont Jordan for a 4-yard loss on third-and-1 from the Washington 3-yard line. Instead of getting a go-ahead TD, Oakland settles for a game-tying field goal with 7:56 left.
RB Clinton Portis — Rushes for a game-high 92 yards on 22 carries but coughs up two fumbles. Portis didn't fumble in the season's first nine games.
K John Hall — Kicks 24- and 45-yard field goals in the second quarter as the Redskins widen their lead to 13-3.

GOAT:
Redskins QB Mark Burnell. Brunell doesn't generate an offensive touchdown in the game and is 2-of-11 passing for 32 yards in the fourth quarter.

KEY STAT (S):
The Raiders defense doesn't allow any second-half points and limits the Redskins to 28 total yards in the fourth quarter.

TURNING POINT:
Kerry Collins is 5-of-6 passing as the Raiders move 50 yards on their final possession to set up Seabastien Janikowski's game-winning field goal from 19 yards with 1:08 left.

BY THE NUMBERS:
3: Redskins' lost fumbles. The Raiders recovered eight opponents' fumbles in the season's first nine games.
4: Raiders' victories in their past 22 regular-season road games.
9: Consecutive Redskins losses to AFC opposition.

THEY SAID IT:
"The guy loves this game, he loves our team, and he loves what he does. He puts his heart and soul into this thing, so when you have days like this it's gratifying to see him as happy as he was after the game."

Kerry Collins on Norv Turner

"We lost it, we've got to deal with it. This team has got to cross over from being close to winning games to understanding that we can win those games.''

Redskins LB LaVar Arrington

DID YOU KNOW?:
The Raiders' Shane Lechler has a punt of 50-plus yards for the 31st straight game, breaking the record held by the Seahawks' Rich Tuten (1993 to 1995) for the longest such streak since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
