Saints 31, Raiders 26

FLASH RECAP:
New Orleans scores 10 points in 11 seconds late in the fourth quarter to insure a victory over host Oakland before an announced crowd of 45,337 at Network Associates Coliseum on Oct. 24, 2004.

After the Saints (3-4) increase their lead to 24-19 on John Carney's 41-yard field goal, New Orleans' Colby Bockwoldt returns a Carlos Francis fumble 6 yards for a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff.

The Raiders (2-5) narrow the deficit to 31-26 on Jerry Porter's 13-yard touchdown catch with 2 minutes, 34 seconds left, but the Saints run out the clock after the ensuing kickoff.

Despite gaining a season-high 432 yards, the Raiders suffer their fourth straight loss after a 2-1 start. Kerry Collins throws for 350 yards and two TDs and Sebastian Janikowski kicks four field goals for Oakland.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

New Orleans
QB Aaron Brooks -- Completes 23 of 39 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown.
WR Joe Horn -- The former Chief contributes 9 catches for 123 yards, mostly at the expense of Raiders CB Phillip Buchanon.
LB Colby Buckwoldt -- Returns a Carlos Francis fumble 6 yards for a touchdown after the football is stripped by Jason Craft.
FS Tebucky Jones -- Returns a Kerry Collins interception 55 yards to set up the Saints' third touchdown.
RB Deuce McAllister -- Scores two third-quarter touchdowns on 3- and 1-yard runs.

Oakland
QB Kerry Collins - Completes 11 of his final 15 passes for 180 yards and two TDs. The burning question: What took Collins so long to start dissecting the Saints' pass defense, which entered the game ranked 29th (fourth worst) in the league?
K Sebastian Janikowski -- Is 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts from 28, 42, 44 and 40 yards.
WR Jerry Porter -- Has 6 catches for 113 yards, including 5 receptions for 98 yards during the second half.
OT Robert Gallery -- The rookie from Iowa doesn't surrender any sacks in his mano-on-mano matchup with Saints DE Charles Grant, who enters the game with a league-high eight sacks.

GOAT:
Raider offense. Despite gaining a season-high 432 total yards, Oakland scores only two touchdowns on six possessions inside the New Orleans 27-yard line.

KEY STAT:
The Raiders surrender only 42 rushing yards after allowing 566 rushing yards the previous three games.

BY THE NUMBERS:
4: Raiders' third-down conversions in 27 attempts for an abysmal 27 percent.
10: Saints points in 11 seconds after the Raiders narrow the deficit to 21-19.
14: Saints points off of two Raiders turnovers.

THEY SAID IT:
"I get fired up. People are down on you and calling for you to get pulled, and that gets my juices flowing. I just wanted to show them that they could be as loud as they want and it's not going to bother me."

Raiders QB QB Kerry Collins on waving to the
crowd after being booed following an interception.

"That was big. That right there let them know that we were coming in here to win. After that, I don't think they wanted any more."

Saints CB Jason Craft on Colby
Buckwoldt's fourth-quarter TD.

DID YOU KNOW?:
The Saints win their second straight game against the Raiders in Oakland. The Raiders lost 13-10 to the visiting Saints in 1997 en route to a 4-12 record.
