Raiders 26, Titans 16

Sept. 10, 2017
Nissan Stadium
Nashville, TN

Playing in his first NFL regular-season game, Giorgio Tavecchio kicks field goals of 20, 52, 52 and 43 yards to help lead visiting Oakland (1-0) to a victory over Tennessee (0-1) in their 2017 season opener. The former Cal kicker was signed off the team's practice squad Sept. 9 with Sebastian Janikowski going on Injured Reserve because of back issues. Tavecchio becomes the first kicker in league history to make two field goals from at least 50 yards in his NFL debut.

In a matchup of high-profile quarterbacks, the Raiders' Derek Carr and the Titans' Marcus Mariota have solid performances in their first game since breaking their right leg in Week 16 of last season. Carr is 22 of 32 passing for 262 yards and two TDs with a 114.3 rating. Mariota is 25 of 41 passing for 256 yards and 78.9 rating. The former Oregon star scores on a 10-yard run in the first quarter.
In his first carry in his Raiders debut, Marshawn Lynch has a 14-yard run. Beast Mode finishes with a game-high 76 rushing yards on 18 carries and he has one catch for 16 yards. He picks up a first down on fourth-and-1 from the Tennessee 3 to set up Giorgio Tavecchio's 20-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter. On Oakland's final drive, Lynch has six carries for 18 yards and he picks up a first down to set up Tavecchio's 43-yard field goal, boosting the Raiders' lead to 26-16 with 1:09 left.
The Raiders defense has a strong second half, allowing six points on two Ryan Succop field goals. The Titans are only 2 of 7 on third-down conversion in the second half after going 5 of 7 in the first two quarters. The Raiders also are stingy against the run, allowing 95 yards on 21 carries. Tennessee's DeMarco Murray (44 yards on 12 carries) and Derrick Henry (25 on 6) combine for only 70 yards rushing.

2: Sacks allowed by the Raiders, who surrendered the fewest sacks (18) in the NFL during the 2016 season.
3: Consecutive Raiders victories over the Titans in Nashville, Tenn.
6: Points allowed by the Raiders defense during the second half on two Ryan Succop field goals.
9-0: Raiders' record when Seth Roberts catches a TD pass.

The Raiders win consecutive season openers for the first time since the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
The Raiders win their first season opener against the Titans in the state of Tennessee after three losses. Oakland lost season openers to the host Titans in 1997 (at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn.), 2003 and 2010. The Titans have played in Nashville since 1998.
